Gangs o f Chicago Almighty Gaylord Nation Blog You A\G\L;s said you wanted some non G\L;s to put in some early history like the early 1970's. Well this is from Lil Mick; I was a member of the Almighty Popes; Kolmar & Jefferson Parks. I was there with Larkin and several of the original members back starting in 1971. By original members I mean from those particual parks. First off I would like to say I never personally had any beefs with any of you ; in fact we used to stop over there by Kilbourne Park and party with Saint ; Indian; Ringo; and Sly. here were times during the school year that we would get together with some of the other clubs like the Jousters;P.V.P;s;andC_Notes and stand over by the Triangle res. and get it on with the Dueces from the DiversyProjects. So what exactly was the hatered against us Popes. Ipersonally was solo by 1977(my last burglary beef and I hooked up with a good women.) I really don;t know how the Popes could have sunk that low to allow any body in. That was in the 80;s and I was up around Wilson & Magnolia in Uptown. I hate to say it but gonna be honest I got heavally into drugs. But thank God I got into rehab and married a fantastic women(been happily together for 17 years. I look back now and really appecriate my old gang days where I woke up drug free and felt good about myself.Anyway your blogs are fucking A and they bring back a lot of memories(good & bad ) P.S. I;ve allowed myself to forgive the Gaylord who fired the gun that killed my Brother Larry. P.S. if you didn;t know this he was a Popes before he became a K\P G\L; Him & Scottie; who started the Sunnyside & Magnolia G\L;s. Later Lil Mick 1971 Almighty Popes. Excuse my spelling.

LIL MICK, all you say is true so you mustbe the real deal. I wou likeo take a guess and say that your real nickname is DAGO, am I right? If I am then you'd remember who I am. The time I walked up on you and LARKIN shooting hoops in our park. Remember what we did? We dropped acid and went to Foster Beach. If you're DAGO, you'll also remember me giving you a break over by Chicago and Bishop while you sat inna car waiting for your Momma while she shopped at Cinderella fashions? and that after I gave you that break, we met up again in WOOD ST. CHORIZO STATION, me with my 2 brothers and you with about 15 Greeks? I was recently reading somebodys blog about drug use and dealing in the newer gangs that are allabout nowadays; it;s true cause I was caught up in it for a long while. (herion) it was like 2 big gorillas on my back!But thanks to getting busted(as weird as that sounds) it got me into treatment. Since 1996 I;ve been street drug clean by that I mean I still need my doctor given prescription meds. Thats due to all the beatings ; stabbings and getting shot in my leg. Istill have to deal with a lot of pain. Anyway if you young bloods can (I know this sounds corny)stay the fuck away from drugs ;it ain;t worth it. You dont know anything kings and gaylords were cool at one point and smashed folks together even had business cards as a unity fabbie
